Spellbound Quilt Along The Spellbound Quilt Along with the Fat Quarter Shop was last week Spellbound Quilt Along - Fat Quarter Shop's Jolly Jabber and I am a few day late due to a number of things. I wanted to share my completed quilt top with you before I send it off to a longarm quilter to be finished. I love piecing quilts and quilting small quilts but I cannot do the patterns and designs on anything this large or anywhere near what Irene Hensley does with her long arm! So off she goes! Fabrics: Robert Kaufman Kona Pink Flamingo, Highlighter, and a mystery Maroon Kona ; Alison Glass: Sun Print 2017 - Amaranth Overgrown, School Bus Overgrown, Citrus Link; Aurifil 50 wt. thread: 2115 (Yellow) The Pattern: Spellbound Downloadable PDF Quilt Pattern Fat Quarter Shop Ruler 1: 'Creative Grids 90 Degree Double Strip Ruler Creative Grids #CGRDBS90' ; I enjoy using all kinds of rulers in my sewing and this one is terrific! Spellbound Quilt Along Part 1

Spellbound Quilt Along Hi Everyone, welcome to In The Boon Docks! I am almost done with my Spellbound Quilt and will have it up tomorrow! An few unexpected hospital procedures and running out of a primary fabric kind of threw me for a loop! Tips 1. I use small Wonder clips to show what side to sew on and a large Wonder clip to hold each section together! This helps when you are chain piecing! 2. Use a 1/4" sewing foot on you machine and Chain piece - even the strips it will go faster that way. 3. Get the Creative Grid 90 Degree Double Strip Ruler you will find lots of uses for these and other blocks you can think up. It is a great investment and so easy to use. Check out the Spellbound Quilt Along - Fat Quarter Shop's Jolly Jabber then watch the Youtube Video to see just how easy these beautiful blocks are to make. I am making this quilt for my Granddaughter and am super excited about getting it finished. Please stop by the other bloggers in the quilt along and see the

Help Me Raise Some Money

Image
Could you think of a day when you didn't have your sewing machine! I sew when I am happy, sad, mad, just about anytime I want! Others sew to raise money for the rent, electric, or just enough to have lunch out once a month! I have a story to tell of a blogger I followed for about 5 years then one day she stopped blogging. Her quilts are beautiful! She was always willing to help new quilters! Always made the world seem a little better! She always wrote at the end of her posts " Cheery Wave Bev " Not long ago I was having giveaways for Impressions, Orange Peel Templates, I notified one of the winners and guess what she signed "Cheery Wave Bev"! I was shocked! I asked her where she had been and found out she had been through some bad times! Her 25 years old sewing machine had died. She had used sewing to supplement her Social Security. It had been broken for months which hasn't helped her situation. I feel "God" puts people in your path a

Bella Skill Builder Month 2 and Giveaway

Image
Today is March 1st and here in West Virginia we are under tornado warnings and thunderstorms! Flooding is occurring and the news is talking about snow on Friday. I am happy to still have power, lots of homes don't. Now on to the blocks for March which are available over on the Bella Skillbuilder Month 2 - Fat Quarter Shop's Jolly Jabber for free! I do recommend that you watch the video by Kimberly and Sherri McConnell of A Quilting Life - a quilt blog show you how to use https://youtu.be/WVSFT7kedB4 the "Orange Peel Templates"!     I didn't really know what I was doing when I started and had only seen the way others had made "Orange Peel Block" so my first block started out like this and then I watched the video and had my "ah ha" moment!     I have fallen in love with making Orange Peels! Just a change in color or arrangement you can change the look of your block! Best part it is easy! On the first two blocks I used Bella Cotton Solid
