Wanna Win some Aurifil Thread

Image
The Aurifil Thread Giveaway ends on August 26, 2014 enter HERE My work in progress or WIP for this Wednesday (I know today is Tuesday) is hand quilting this mini quilt! I am hand quilting the Flowering Snowball Mini with Aurifil 12 wt. Thread using #2021 Natural White! As you look at the colors in this quilt you can see I could have used a variety of colors if I wanted the quilting to be the main focus but I didn't in this case. By using the white you see the beautiful sheen off the white but it blends with the white fabric. Aurifil 12 wt. threads are an excellent way of adding decorative stitches to projects and hand quilting. I love the look of how it makes the quilting pattern stand out without taking away from the overall appearance of the quilt. Thank you for stopping by to look around! Create and be unique! Giveaway Closed Aurifil thread Giveaway Winner Congratulations to gpc august 17, 2014 at 2:00 PM I was sorry to learn that she didn't feel welcome in her first quilting class. I know you would have made her feel included if you had been the first to meet her! :) This is not why you won but it is one of the nicest things to be said about me! Thank you for such a nice comment! I forgot to post this but not to notify the winner and mail it! Gail has her winnings of 4 Aurifil 12 wt. Threads! Thank you all for your comments! Lisa The other day was a highlight in my blogging/sewing career. When Alex featured this bag on all his sites! It is very exciting when anything I make is featured by Aurifil the man who makes that happen Alex Veronelli ! Thank you Alex of Aurifil, you made my day! County Fair

Image
The Cabell County Fair has come and gone! But the Ribbons they left behind continue to brighten my day! I hope others quilters participate in their local fair! It is the best place to learn about Judges. Some are kind and very helpful. Then others are rude and downright mean. But in reality they have no control over anything just a Ribbon and sometimes cash prizes. Our fair cash prizes are $2 for first place and $1 for second. I have no plans to let a Judge decide my fate in the quilt world. I love these canvas fabrics I found in a box at a quilt shop. Very bright Pink, Orange, an a yellowish green, sounds like it might not go together but I think it sewed together beautifully! I used two Aurifil 12 wt. threads #2530 #2235 to add "In The Boon Docks" Anna Marie Horner ribbon 5/8" Gold Arrow Feathers. I love Aurifil threads and their company so when someone ask me what Aurifil is I tell them "The best thread you can use for quilting or sewing with the most b

ALYOF August Goal

Image
A Lovely Year Of Finishes August 2014 I have two goals this month instead of one but they are both small! 1. Design boards 2. Finding a gift to make my cousins wife that incorporates a strip of fabric. Lori Holt's idea on Design Boards I found a YouTube video by Lori Holt on the Fat Quarter Shop youtube channel creating portable design boards. I was watching it and had one of those "why didn't I think of that moments"! You see I have no room for a design wall but definitely have for stackable boards. So goal one for August 2014 is to make a few and try them out. My second goal is to create a gift for a 45 year old woman that incorporates this strip of cat fabric! If you have any ideas I would love your imput. She doesn't sew but reads quilt often. I believe she owns a Nook. If you know of a tutorial you want to recommend leave me a link. I have thought maybe a pouch or eyeglasses case. Thank you for you help and for reading Lisa I will be linking u
